Creative Direction for Film and Brand Content

Shaping what a film says before anyone picks up a camera. Concept, narrative and visual language for campaigns that need to hold together across a launch film, a teaser and a dozen social cuts — for brands in Limassol and Nicosia, resorts on the east coast, and destination work across Cyprus and Greece.

Deciding what the film is about

Most briefs arrive as a list of things to feature. Creative direction turns that into a single idea worth ninety seconds of someone's attention — the angle, the through-line, and the reason a viewer stays past the first five seconds.

One idea, many cuts

A campaign is rarely one film. The Visit Cyprus work ran as a full-length piece, a teaser and shorter broadcast cuts, each holding the same idea at a different length. Planning that at the concept stage is what stops the sixty-second version feeling like an afterthought.

Direction that understands the destination

A film selling Ayia Napa in August is not the film selling Troodos in February, and a Limassol property brand is not a Paralimni beach resort. Six campaigns for the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and a personal essay following Cyprus through all four seasons were built on knowing which version of a place a particular audience needs to see.

Working with in-house teams and agencies

Creative direction can sit alongside a marketing team that already knows its brand, or lead from a blank page. Either way the output is the same: a concept everyone has agreed on, and a visual language specific enough to shoot from.

(Common Questions)

Can you take creative direction on a film someone else shoots?

Yes. Creative direction can be booked on its own — concept, treatment and oversight — with production handled by your own crew or another company, in Cyprus or elsewhere.

Do you direct destination and tourism campaigns outside Cyprus?

The tourism campaign work to date has been for Cyprus, including six films for the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The same approach applies to destinations elsewhere in Greece and the islands — get in touch with the brief and the destination.

What do I need to bring to the first conversation?

Whatever you have. A rough brief, a deadline and a budget range is plenty. A clear sense of who the film is for matters far more than having the idea already.
